Hi, I’m Jess Kimmel, MA, LPC

Therapist | College Students & Young Adults | Trauma & Identity

Figuring out who you are is hard work. You don't have to do it alone.

About Jess

Your early twenties can be a lot. Identity, relationships, mental health, pressure from every direction, and the feeling that everyone else somehow has it more together than you do. They don't, by the way. But that's exactly the kind of thing we can talk about.

I work with college students and young adults navigating the messy, complicated, often overwhelming process of figuring out who they are and what they actually need. That includes people questioning or leaving a faith tradition, those who are curious about their relationship with substances, and anyone working through complicated dynamics with peers, partners, or parents.

I'm trained in both Clinical Counseling and Art Therapy. Some clients find that making art as part of therapy helps them access things that are hard to put into words. Others just want to talk. Either way works, and we'll find what's right for you.

What It's Like to Work With Me

Engaging and curious. I care about understanding your actual story, not just your symptoms. Our work together will be collaborative, flexible, and honest. I'll show up with presence and creativity, and I'll take what you bring into the room seriously.

Therapy helps us think critically about our behavior. When we're hurting, that can be particularly difficult. I'm here to listen. Throughout the process we may explore the role of environment, social dynamics, or family history. Your sessions will evolve as you evolve.

  • "You don't have to have it figured out before you start. Just showing up is enough."

  • "College students and young adults working through identity, relationships, anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use. I also specialize in spiritual deconstruction, supporting people who are questioning or leaving a faith tradition and figuring out what that means for who they are. My approach is person-centered, feminist, and trauma-informed, and I offer art therapy for clients who want to explore that as part of their process."
